I have been designing original & distinctive birdhouses for over twenty two years. I have designed well over a thousand different items.
My designs have been displayed and sold at the following gift marts for years; New York 225 5th Ave., Atlanta International Gift Mart, Dallas World Trade Center, Los Angeles Gift Mart, San Francisco Moscone Center and Chicago Merchandise Mart.
Clients have included Neiman-Marcus, Bloomingdales, Spiegel, JC Penney, Sears and thousands of independent stores and catalogs world-wide.
I currently ship birdhouses to the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Canada and Australia.
My family has been avidly feeding and watching birds for over three generations. My Grandfather built a beautiful 56 room martin house. He also built and displayed many smaller birdhouses throughout the yard.
When I was young I can remember helping my father build a modern designed martin house. He also would put out dozens of birdhouses each spring and then take down and clean each fall. The cleaned birdhouses would then hang in the garden shed rafters until next spring. A few houses would be brought into the workshop for repairs. My father still had a couple of my originals from twenty years ago.
Each winter my father would also fill and maintain numerous birdfeeders in the yard. I can remember always being curious of the new species of birds that would show up or to see how many birds could fit on the feeder at one time.
In spring is the contest between my Mom and I to see who could spot the first robin. No prize just bragging rights.
As long as I can remember my parents have always had a bird book "A Golden Nature Guide" "A Guide to the Most Familiar American Birds" copyright 1949. I have it on my desk right now and it definetly has had alot of use.
Birdwatching is for all ages and is a great way to learn and be entertained. I am remember reading once how some one described birdwatching as "The greatest show on earth in your own backyard".
